First doctor to attend to Ebola Victim, Dr Ameyo Stella Adadevoh dies.

Dr. Ameyo Stella Adadevoh, one of the doctors that contracted the Ebola disease has died at the isolation unit of the Mainland Hospital in Lagos, Nigeria’s financial hub.
Dr Adadevoh was the first Doctor to treat the Liberian Patrick Sawyer.
She died yesterday evening.
Dr. Adadevoh showed bravery when she forcefully prevented Sawyer from leaving the hospital when he attempted to do so. Her decision despite Saywer’s irrational behavior is believed to have saved many Nigerians from infection. If Sawyer had left the hospital like he forcefully attempted to, it would have been extremely difficult to track persons he would have made contact with outside the hospital.
Get well messages and prayers for her recovery have dominated the social media since reports of her infection by the deadly disease became public knowledge.
Adedavoh becomes the fourth Nigerian to die from the virus, excluding Sawyer.
Dr. Adadevoh, a senior consultant at the hospital, was in her late 50s.
The Honourable Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, later confirmed the death but avoided mentioning her name. His Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Dan Nwomeh, released a statement on his behalf, saying the death of “one of the primary contacts of the index Ebola Virus Disease case, the most senior doctor who participated in the management of the patient, a female consultant physician,” occurred this evening.
The statement added: “With this unfortunate development, the total number of Ebola Virus-related deaths in Nigeria now stands at five. The other two patients currently under treatment in the isolation wards are stable and are being taken care of."
