Jonathan said - No more rigging of elections in Nigeria

President Jonathan went to Washington DC on Sunday for the US Africa Summit organized by Barrack Obama.

Jonathan tells Nigerians in Washington that the days of rigging of elections are over.

He said this at a meeting with Nigerian Professionals in the United States, he also assured them that he remains faithful to his words that he would do everything possible to ensure that free and fair election returns to Nigeria.

According to reports from Channels Tv, Jonathan cited Edo, Ondo and Ekiti States, and said that the Federal Government would take all necessary steps to ensure that no individual, group or political party is able to thwart the legitimate choice of genuine voters in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State. 

He also spoke on efforts to improve the socioeconomic status of young Nigerian women, ideas to grow in Nigeria, the problem of education, housing needs and efforts to involve diaspora developers, as well as job creation. 

The President used the opportunity to commend young Nigerians who were participating in the Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders, a leadership programme sponsored by the United States Government to train young African professionals in American universities, government departments and private sector. 

The President invited ten young Nigerians who were setting the pace in education in America for some presidential handshake, and beyond the handshake, he gave out 100,000 dollars for them to share. 

The Nigerian Ambassador to the United States spoke well of Nigerians in diaspora. he also said that Nigeria occupies a revered position in the sight of American Government hence the invitation for the US-Africa Summit.
